Our Inaugural Husband Panel

As the calendar would have it, our first MOPS meeting in February fell on Valentine's Day. What a perfect opportunity to invite a panel of husbands to join us and answer our burning questions related to marriage, parenting, intimacy, and anything else we could think of. I have to admit it was quite possibly one of my all-time favorite meetings and the hubbys really knocked it out of the park.

Thanks guys for being a part of our very first Husband Panel.

It would've been nearly impossible to notate every single response from each gentleman but they all provided rich insight into what makes a man tick and what he's really thinking when he comes home from work and his wife is still in her pajamas. The bottom line though (and they confirmed this also) is that each man is unique and will have varying responses to each question. That being said, if you haven't already, set aside some alone time tonight and ask your groom the following questions. Don't assume you already know any of the answers and you just might be surprised at how basic his needs are.

1. When you say you're thinking about nothing, are you really thinking about nothing?
2. How can we as wives make our husbands feel better loved?
3. What is the most challenging part of being a dad?
4. What would be your perfect date?
5. Some women feel that sex is all husbands want. How do these women approach their husband with their feelings in a way that will be taken seriously?
6. Staying at home with small children is hard work. A lot of times our pjs may still be on or the house may be a mess when our husbands get home. What is one thing that you would really like to be accomplished when you get home?
7. What is the best way for wives to bring up a potential conflict without making her husband defensive?

No matter if you've been married 3 months or 30 years, these are great questions to ask your spouse and get on the same page. Take refuge in the freedom that awaits when you discover he may not be at all concerned with toys lying everywhere or a hot meal on the table every night, but that his greatest desire is to be needed, wanted, and respected.

  1. I believe this WAS my favorite MOPS meeting ever!! The husbands did a great job and I have thought about the things they have said every day since that meeting. I have changed a few of the things I do and say due to their advice and have already seen significant changes in my heart and in the happiness of my husband. Love it!!!
Thanks to the husbands and to the MOPS leadership for planning such a helpful meeting!
