There are eight colors represented in the jellybean devotional and eight days in Holy week. So go ahead and pick up some jellybeans and start with the first color on Palm Sunday. There are some additional notes and scripture for each color below to help explain the sentiment a little further. I would love to hear how your children respond so leave a comment if you have some thoughts to share. Thanks.
Bookmarks were given with the list of jellybean colors and their meaning.
RED - is for the blood He gave. When Jesus was dying on the cross for us, the nails in His hands and feet made Him bleed. 1 John 1:7 ...and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
GREEN - is for the grass He made. God wants us to enjoy His wonderful creation. Psalm 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
YELLOW - is for the sun so bright. Like a new sunrise, Jesus rose from the grave on Sunday morning. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again.
ORANGE - is for the edge of night. The Holy Spirit's fire burns within us and leads us. Psalm 78:14 God guided them with light from the fire all night long.
BLACK - is for the sins we made. Our sins darken our hearts and make us live in darkness. Acts 26:17-18 I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light.
WHITE - is for the grace He gave. We become pure as snow when we let Jesus' blood wash us clean. Isaiah 1:18 Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow.
PURPLE - is for the hours of sorrow. Purple is the royal color, a reminder that Jesus is our King. Mark 15:17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.
PINK - is for a new tomorrow and for everyday God gives us. Because of the Lord's great love...his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23
