The Power of a Mother's Tounge

Sheri Houge shared with us her experience in losing her voice for 3 years.  The following are highlights of her talk.

1. Show Restraint- have patience and a cool spirit

2. Be Soft Spoken- write things, looks are more cruel & hurtful
No yelling, keep the volume lower in your house, the mom sets the tone.
face-to-face communication is very important.

3. Measure Your Words- You can't get them back.
2 Timothy 4:2

4. Sin of Busyness- Slow down, learn to say  "No".
Be Still and Know that I am God.
5. Acknowledge loss of Control- Your are in charge of your children, but not in control of their Lives.
Children become more independent. Let them do it!
Raise them prepared to leave you.

6. Be a better Listener-
James 1:19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this:
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt,
so that you may know how to answer everyone.

7. Guard your Mouth- Use encouraging words no foul language
Ephesians 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast
