Family Friendly Holiday Activities

It would be great to share ideas on Family-Friendly Holiday Actitivites because I'm sure there are many families looking for fun, new things to do during the Christmas season. Listed below are many events taking place in and around the Memphis area and please share comments / suggestions on possible other ideas and events that may not be listed.


PEABODY CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

The Peabody kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of the famous Christmas tree in the Grand Lobby. Join Santa and his elves as they host the count down. After the count down, kids are welcome to visit with Santa. Event time: 11a- 7p.

ENCHANTED FOREST

The holiday season begins at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum with a showcase of the Enchanted Forest of animated characters with a Christmas theme. Also, a Gingerbread Village, Christmas decorated trees, and pictures with Santa. Admission. Proceeds benefit Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital


ZOO LIGHTS

This is Memphis' biggest Christmas light display and features over one million bulbs! Zoo Lights runs from from November 16-December 30, 2012(select days) from 5:30-10:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

SNOWY LIGHTS in MY BIG BACKYARD

Visit the Botanic Gardens for an evening of lights, snow, and holiday magic. In addition to light displays and snow falling, there will be holiday music, winter crafts, and games throughout the "Backyard." This event runs Friday and Saturday nights November 23-December 15 and daily December 17-29 (closed December 20, 24, and 25) from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for non-members and $5 for Garden members.


SANTA'S WONDERLAND @ BASS PRO SHOP
Now through December 24, visit your local Bass Pro Shop for a FREE photo with Santa along with Free games and activities and Free crafts.

STARRY NIGHTS
Drive a 1.5 mile route through Shelby Farms and take in the more than 2.5 million eco-friendly light bulbs on festive display. Starry Nights runs from November 23 through December 28, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday and 6-10pm on Friday and Saturday. Mondays 6-9 p.m.are reserved for walkers/runners/joggers/bikers only. Admission is $20 per car, $50 per shuttle or minibus, and $150 for tour buses. On Mondays, walkers, runners, and bikers pay $5 per person or $20 maximum per family.
